In Praise of Ruby Rings!

The ruby, once called the king of gemstones stands high on the list of desirable gems.

It’s shade of red and association with love lends well to the use of the gem in engagement rings, eternity rings and wedding bands. These are the ultimate tokens of love after all.

People today like something a little different and that can be in the form of a simple ruby solitaire or a mixed cluster ring for special or occasional wear. As pendants or set in earrings, the ruby shines its red light for all to see. The Burmese ruby is the finest bright red. There are always many designs on show in good jewellers display so you can get ideas before coming online for a bargain.

Alternatives to Ruby Rings:

Rubies can be offered as a birthstone gift, as a ring, set in a charm bracelet or a beautiful piece of body jewelry or in a tie or scarf pin or even embedded in a gold or silver money clip for a man.

The best rubies are not cheap as of course they are quite rare. As with any jewelry, it is advisable to buy the best you can afford, it will appreciate better and be of better quality overall.

A personal annotation:  My aged mother has an old heavy gold charm bracelet. It is laden down with charms given as gifts over many, many years.  As a child I liked to look at it, it was rarely worn due to its eventual overbearing weight.  One of the most beautiful charms was a tiny treasure chest with a hinged lid and inside was a very nice (quite large!) ruby. It was custom made for her by my father and a really different idea.

People have likes and dislikes and it is worth sounding out your intended recipient on their view of ruby gemstones. Personally speaking I love this colored stone. The blood red or pinky purple color and the deep rich glow it emits. Mounted upon a platinum or white gold ring, it is a joy to behold!
